The Importance of Retaining Waterford Graduates.
Every year, when a school bond proposal comes before voters, the Waterford community shows up and says “yes.” Time and time again, we choose to invest in our schools and in the future of our students.
That matters. It reflects a shared belief that today’s students will become tomorrow’s doctors, tradespeople, teachers, first responders, and community leaders.
But there’s a growing concern we can’t ignore—too many of those same students are leaving Waterford after graduation. As a community, we’re making a significant investment in the next generation, yet we’re not seeing enough of that investment come back to strengthen our own neighborhoods.
As a candidate for the Waterford School District Board of Education, one of my key priorities is exploring ways to change that. We need to think creatively about how we can encourage graduates to stay, build their lives here, and eventually raise families who will attend Waterford schools.
If we want a stronger future for our community, we have to start by retaining the people we’ve already invested in.
Together, we lead.
